I, Kashika Sonone, Win Silver in ADNOC’s Prestigious Net Zero Challenge at the UAE Level
I, Kashika Sonone, am incredibly proud to announce that I have won the silver position in ADNOC’s prestigious Net Zero Challenge at the UAE level, under the Public Awareness Campaign category. As a student from DPS Sharjah, I had the honor of representing my school in this highly competitive event. With 241 schools participating from across the UAE and over 1,954 submissions from more than 10,500 students, the competition was intense, making my achievement all the more significant. Out of 33 winning teams across various categories, my project was recognized for its impactful approach, earning me second place.
My project is centered on reducing carbon emissions, a critical step in combating climate change. I developed practical solutions that can be implemented at both individual and community levels, focusing on sustainable practices that not only reduce our carbon footprint but also promote a more eco-conscious lifestyle.
This project is closely tied to my broader initiative, Carbon Countdown. Carbon Countdown is an awareness campaign I launched with the goal of raising awareness about the urgent need for climate action. The name itself reflects the critical countdown we face in keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius. Through this initiative, I strive to educate and motivate people of all ages to make simple yet effective changes in their daily lives—whether it’s reducing waste, conserving energy, or choosing sustainable products.
Winning silver in ADNOC’s Net Zero Challenge is a significant milestone in my journey toward environmental stewardship. It not only validates the work I have done but also fuels my passion to continue advocating for a sustainable future. I hope that this achievement will inspire others to join me in taking actionable steps toward preserving our planet for future generations.
