SCS Launches Pen and Marker Plastic Recycling Competition

Safa Community School has kicked off an exciting new initiative to promote sustainability with the launch of a Pen and Marker Plastic Recycling Competition, aimed at students from KG1 to Year 9. In partnership with BIC and Simply Bottles, this competition encourages students to collect plastic pens and markers to help reduce waste and raise awareness about the environmental impact of single-use plastics.

The competition, led by the school’s Eco Council, invites students to gather as many plastic pens and markers as possible over the coming weeks. BIC, a renowned brand known for its stationery products, and Simply Bottles, an organisation dedicated to recycling and sustainable practices, are both playing a vital role in supporting the competition. The two companies will provide the necessary resources and guidance for safely collecting and recycling the items once the competition ends.

The Eco Council has taken charge of monitoring the competition, ensuring that collections are organised, and that the materials are properly sorted. By working with BIC and Simply Bottles, the school has an excellent opportunity to educate students about the importance of recycling and sustainable waste management.

Each class will collect plastic pens and markers, with the Eco Council overseeing the collection process. The competition is designed to be both fun and educational, inspiring students to think about how their actions can make a difference for the environment. As part of the initiative, students will also learn about how the collected items will be responsibly recycled, contributing to the creation of new products and helping to reduce plastic waste in landfills.

At the end of the competition, the results will be presented in a special assembly next week, where students will be able to see the collective impact of their efforts. The Eco Council will share the total amount collected, along with details about how the partnership with BIC and Simply Bottles is helping turn waste into valuable resources.

This initiative is part of Safa Community School’s ongoing commitment to environmental education and sustainability. Through partnerships with companies like BIC and Simply Bottles, the school is fostering a deeper understanding of recycling and encouraging its students to take responsibility for their actions in caring for the planet.

The Pen and Marker Plastic Recycling Competition is just one of the many ways Safa Community School is empowering students to actively contribute to a more sustainable future. With the support of the Eco Council, BIC, and Simply Bottles, the school community is coming together to make a meaningful impact, proving that small actions can lead to significant change.

We look forward to the assembly next week, where the students’ hard work will be celebrated, and the importance of recycling will be highlighted.
