Roots & Shoots At QAS wins INJAZ Award from HE Sheikha Hind Al Thani

We are thrilled to announce that our 'Closing the Food Cycle Loop' project at Qatar Academy Sidra has been honored with the prestigious Injaz Award, presented by Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation. This accolade recognizes our commitment to sustainability and innovation within the Qatar Foundation community.

Our initiative focuses on creating a self-sustaining food ecosystem. Over the past year, our organic vegetable garden yielded 62 kilograms of fresh produce, which was supplied directly to our cafeteria, promoting healthy eating and reducing food miles. To address food waste, we implemented a comprehensive composting system, transforming cafeteria scraps into nutrient-rich compost used to enrich our garden soil. Additionally, we've integrated an aeroponic tower garden for cultivating leafy greens, maximizing space and resource efficiency.

This award underscores the dedication of our students, staff, and partners in driving environmental stewardship and serves as an inspiration to continue pioneering sustainable practices within our educational community.
