Qatar Academy Sidra's 'Closing the Food Cycle Loop' Project Awarded Runner-Up at THIMUN Qatar 2025 GAIA

We are honored to announce that our 'Closing the Food Cycle Loop' project at Qatar Academy Sidra has been recognized as the runner-up in the prestigious Global Act with Impact Awards (GAIA) at the THIMUN Qatar 2025 conference. This accolade celebrates our commitment to sustainability and innovative practices within the educational community.

Our project focuses on creating a self-sustaining food ecosystem on campus. Over the past year, our organic vegetable garden produced 62 kilograms of fresh produce, which was supplied directly to our cafeteria, promoting healthy eating and reducing food miles. To address food waste, we implemented a comprehensive composting system, transforming cafeteria scraps into nutrient-rich compost used to enrich our garden soil. Additionally, we've integrated an aeroponic tower garden for cultivating leafy greens, maximizing space and resource efficiency.

This recognition underscores the dedication of our students, staff, and partners in driving environmental stewardship and serves as an inspiration to continue pioneering sustainable practices within our educational community.
