As part of Regent International School’s journey to become an accredited Eco School, children from Year 2 to Year 6 had to apply to become a member of the Eco Committee. With 200+ letters of application, positions were in demand! Our appointed Eco Committee are incredibly enthusiastic and ready to make positive environmental change.
This term, the Eco Committee children have been busy:
-They completed an Environment and Sustainability Audit which focussed on six key areas: litter and waste management, energy efficiency, water and sanitation, transport, outdoor space and curriculum and education;
-They supported the creation of an Eco Code;
-They created Eco Warriors badges which were designed by one of our Year 6 Eco Warriors;
-They have reminded our children how to recycle during assemblies;
-They have attended various events, including visits to: Spinneys, BSME Student Climate Conference and the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project.
Next term, the Eco Committee will create an Environment and Sustainability Action Plan, using conclusions from their audit. The audit will identify targets which we will work towards over the course of the year. They can’t wait for the many green opportunities and events which will take place and are eager to continue helping the Regent community to make a green impact!
