Grade 6 Students Lead the Charge in Plastic Recycling at QAS

At Qatar Academy Sidra (QAS), environmental consciousness is taking center stage, thanks to a group of passionate Grade 6 students who are spearheading a recycling initiative focused on plastic waste. Their dedication to protecting the environment is making a big difference within the school community and beyond.

The recycling project began when a group of Grade 6 students noticed the amount of plastic waste generated in their classrooms, the cafeteria, and around the school. Plastic bottles, wrappers, and other single-use plastic items were accumulating daily, and the students decided it was time to take action. After a series of discussions with teachers and staff, they realized that creating a more structured recycling program at QAS could help address the problem and make a meaningful impact.

The Grade 6 students are not stopping with plastic recycling. They’re already brainstorming additional ways to improve the school’s environmental efforts, including expanding the recycling program to include paper and cardboard, organizing clean-up events, and even launching a campaign to raise awareness about reducing food waste in the cafeteria.

QAS students and staff invite everyone to be part of this exciting initiative. Whether you’re a student, a teacher, or a parent, you can make a difference by committing to recycling, reducing plastic use, and encouraging others to do the same. Together, we can help make QAS a model for sustainability, one plastic bottle at a time.
