We are so happy to be back at school at QAS. During summer 5o kg of compost was recovered from our smart bin. This compost was made from the food waste at QAS. The food waste was used in our vegetable garden to add fertility to the soil. These methods have improved our soil quality a great deal. The soil before we started farming in this plot was sandy in texture, with very less water holding capacity. The soil also yielded very low six years back. After continuous enrichment practices to improve soil, the soil quality has improved and the garden has started giving high yields. This is also a great way to demonstrate food waste recycling to the students.
