Vegetable Gardening in hot and arid regions

We have just started vegetable gardening as we enter the on season for agriculture in Qatar. We prepared the land and mixed it with organic manure. We use the compost from the smart bin where we compost all those lunch waste by mixing them with coir pith and friendly bacteria.

Then we made ridges to plant Chilies, Broccoli, Egg plant, Zucchini and Lady’s finger. We were delighted to see birds, bees and small insects returning to our garden foraging for food and water. However, we decided not to shoo them away as we believe that we need all these organisms for our garden to do well. We believe in nurturing biodiversity and coexistence.
