Engaging with Nature: A Farm Tour for Students

As part of our community involvement and commitment to environmental education, the American Community School of Abu Dhabi took 30 students to engage with nature and contribute to our environment during Earth Month! This enriching experience took place at Gracia Farms, where students went on a farm tour, followed by a hands-on tree planting workshop as part of the Million Tree Planting Initiative.

Discovering Sustainable Farming Practices

The day began with an informative tour of Gracia Farms, where students learned about sustainable farming practices. They explored the various methods used to cultivate crops while preserving the environment, including organic farming techniques and crop rotation.

Learning About Local Animals

In addition to farming practices, students had the chance to meet and learn about local animals that play a crucial role in our ecosystem. From understanding the importance of pollinators like bees to discovering how livestock contributes to sustainable farming, this part of the tour highlighted the interconnectedness of all living things.

Hands-On Tree Planting Workshop

Following the farm tour, students participated in a hands-on tree planting workshop. This activity was not just about planting trees; it was about fostering a sense of responsibility towards our planet. Students learned about the critical role trees play in our ecosystem, including their ability to improve air quality, provide habitat for wildlife, and combat climate change. By actively participating in the Million Tree Planting Initiative, students contributed to a greener future for our community.
