Clean Up Campaign

PIES @ Community Service

We, Bhavanites always believe that community service and volunteerism are very important. The best thing a person can donate is their time. We feel it’s every individual’s responsibility to serve the society.

“Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It’s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It’s the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.”
Our students of grade 9 and School Cleaning Mission Coordinator Mrs. Usha Kumari  had participated in the Second Sustainable Schools initiative’s Cleanup Campaign 2015-2016, at

Al Wathba wetland Reserve on Wednesday , February  10th 2016.  It was organised by Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, ADEC and Abu Dhabi defence.

This was an excellent opportunity for our students to understand the importance of community service and waste management. The dedication and commitment that they exhibited was really appreciable.

The campaign aims at protecting the environment from pollution and at the same time inculcate the importance of keeping our surroundings clean. Who else can be chosen other than students – the future leaders. It witnessed the participation of 105 students and teachers, and 69 members from various organisations (government and private) in Abu Dhabi. The result was, the removal of a whopping 1689 kg of waste – 249 kg of plastic waste, 13 kg of wood waste, 131 kg of metal waste , 625.5 kg of glass waste, 166 kg of paper waste and 505 kg of other waste.
