Fruit Scraps – A sustainable way to make compost at DPS Dubai

The wise and resourceful students and teachers of Grades I & II believe in the policy of using ‘nose to tail’ of a fruit, which is why they compost fruit scraps.

The students have learnt from their teachers in the STEAM lessons that the fruit scraps make good natural fertilizers and are a sustainable way to make compost for the organic gardens of our school.

So every day, during their fruit and snack break, the students collect their fruit scraps and put it in the box placed in the Waste Management Centre on their floor.

At the end of the day, few students, with the help of the teacher, empty the box into the compost pit.
