EVENT – THE GHAF TREE WEEK DATE – 26.1.2020 TO 4.2.2020
OBJECTIVE – Consolidating the culture of Environmental Awareness and the importance of preserving Ghaf Tree from cutting and unfair logging. In 2008 the Ghaf was declared the national tree of the UAE. A drought-tolerant, evergreen tree native to the desert, the Ghaf is a resilient plant and good for the soil and requires little water. The UAE Government is taking many initiatives to encourage corporations, citizens, residents and schools to participate in spreading awareness about Ghaf trees and planting more trees. As a part of this Celebration, students participated in different activities and conservation campaigns with the aim of raising the profile of the tree by creating an awareness of ecological and cultural significance among the community.
