Clarion’s whole school Bokashi meter

We are recognizing International Compost Awareness Week by celebrating our Term 2 tally of 118.8kg of food waste saved from landfill through our Bokashi buckets.

This was our first term of Bokashi composting across the school and we are proud of our efforts.

Buckets are weighed after they have fermented and when they are ready to be used. Bokashi tea is drained and the weight is added to the Bokashi meter.

So far our buckets have been used in the tumbler to make compost, dug into the ground to add nutrients to the soil, and added to soil factories to revitalize old soil.

With more classes coming on board all the time, we are sure we can surpass our Term 2 goal of 200kg.
