A ‘Paper Free Day’ in Al Muna!

In Year 3 at Al Muna we have been learning about how deforestation affects the earth and how important it is to protect the trees. As a result of this, we have been making sure we recycle all of the paper we use; always use every page in our exercise books and have organised a ‘Paper Free Day’ in school on Wednesday 15th April where only reading books and recycled materials can be used during lessons.

Our ‘Paper Free Day’ was a huge success. Year 3 did lots of practical role play maths activities and we used recycled paper and newspaper for Art. In some of our Arabic lessons we used balloons to write on instead of paper, a fantastic idea! Our Oasis department did some problem solving – how do you plan a birthday party without using paper? Our ideas included, emailing the invitations, making invites using material, using a PowerPoint presentation in the background, having leaves on strings for decorations, using glass plates and cups, flower decorations….the list was endless!

Why not try having your own Paper Free Day? It’s trickier than it sounds!
