Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots invites you to join members all around the world this September 21st as we celebrate International Day of Peace in a special way. We would like you to join us in #PlantingHope!
What is International Day of Peace?
International Day of Peace, sometimes also called Peace Day or World Peace Day, is a global holiday dedicated to world peace, the end of violence and war, and to building a better future. It is organised by the United Nations, and organisations and charities all around the world unite to celebrate it in different ways, including Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots.
How can I join in?
For 2021, we’d love you to join the Roots & Shoots family around the world in #PlantingHope. We want you to think about what message of peace you’d like to release into the world, and combine it with a powerful action that will make a real difference to the planet; planting a tree or seedling.
Trees and plants represent hope, new life, growth and development. They enrich the environment, and our lives. They help people, animals and the planet, like the goals of Roots & Shoots.
#PlantingHope
There are three simple steps to our celebration:
Step 1:
Using natural materials (such as a plant leaf or some compostable paper), write your message of peace to the world.
Step 2:
Plant a tree or seed along with your message of peace.
Step 3:
Take a photo and share it on social media using the hashtag #PlantingHope.
Spread the word
We’d love you to invite your friends, families and classmates to get involved. Why not get together with your friends, or work as a classroom to think about what your messages of peace will be, and plant your seedlings together to celebrate the hope that they embody, and the hope that you embody too.
