Students in Grade 1 have been learning about the concept of “farm to table” in their social studies classes and where their everyday food, like bread comes from. Whilst learning about how bread is made, the connection to pizza was created and students made their own dough, tomato sauce and decided on their favourite toppings onto their own pizzas. With the help of grade 9 and 10 culinary arts students, they were all successful in learning new skills of patting, shaping and rolling dough to stirring and measuring out all the ingredients needed to make their tasty pizzas. They came away with not only their pizza, but also an understanding of where food comes from, how it’s made and some crucial pizza making skills!
