Building Bridges: Promoting Understanding and Inclusion

Over the past few months, students at the American Community School of Abu Dhabi have had the invaluable opportunity to collaborate with neuro-divergent children through various initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion and understanding.

Partnership with Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Special Needs

In partnership with the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Special Needs, our students learned to plan inclusive activities that cater to diverse needs. They worked in teams to read and analyze profiles of different children, gaining insights into their unique challenges and strengths. This experience fostered a deeper understanding of how to adapt activities to ensure everyone can participate and thrive.

Skate with Us

Through the Skate with Us initiative, students engaged with neuro-divergent peers to help them practice skateboarding in a safe and supportive environment. This program not only encourages physical activity but also fosters social interactions, allowing students to build friendships and develop confidence on and off the skateboard.

Unified Basketball

This initiative is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for children of determination and offers our students a unique opportunity to collaborate with children from the New England Center for Children (NECC). Our Unified Basketball program hosts weekly friendly games that foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, creating an inclusive atmosphere where all participants can enjoy the game and learn from one another. Through this partnership, we aim to enhance understanding, build friendships, and promote inclusivity in sports.
