STUDY OF GHAF TREE ECOLOGY – Abu Dhabi Indian School, Muroor

Grade 11 students – integrated to Biology, Social Science and Mathematics

Objective –

  • To study and understand the ecological significance of the Ghaf tree (Prosopis cineraria) at ADIS, Muroor.
  • To analyze the role of the Ghaf tree in promoting biodiversity, preventing desertification, and acting as a sustainable resource.
  • To develop awareness among students the conservation of native species and their role in maintaining environmental balance.

Outcome –

  • Students were able to identify the ecological characteristics and adaptations of the Ghaf tree and how it survives in arid conditions.
  • Students evaluated the tree’s role in supporting biodiversity by providing habitat and resources to various organisms.

Students  Noted down- What they saw under the tree. Noted what they saw on the bark? Any nest, flower or fruit. Footprint of any insect or bird.
