At Regent International School, we learn about the R’s: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. We understand the importance of reducing and reusing our waste before recycling it.
REDUCE
Firstly, as a community, we try to reduce the amount of waste we create. For example, all children and adults are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles into school and refill them when needed using our water fountains to reduce the amount of plastic water bottles we use.
REUSE
Secondly, we try to use items more than once. For example, our children try to use both sides of the paper and use a range of materials (including plastic bottles, carboard tubes, etc.) to junk model.
RECYCLE
Finally, we use RECAPP to recycle. We recycle plastic and aluminium cans using the purple bins recycle paper using green bins. The recyclables are then compacted and baled by RECAPP in order to be efficiently transported to local recycling and transformation facilities.
Plastic and Aluminium
1.Empty plastic bottles and containers or aluminium cans which can be recycled. Look for the recycling symbol (or number 1, 2 and 5 in a triangle)!
*You can bring in your recycling from home to school.
2. Wash any food or drink contamination off your container. Water bottles do not need to be washed.
3. Squash or twist any bottles.
4. Place recycling in the purple designated RECAPP bins around school.
Paper
1.Put any paper which can be recycled into your classroom paper recycling box (which has been created by your class’s Eco Warriors).
2. The Eco Warriors will empty the class paper recycling box into the RECAPP green bins situated around school at the end of each day.
