We had an exciting session at Roots & Shoots meeting last time where we made bird feeders with upcycled plastic bottles. Our Roots & Shoots members brought used plastic bottles from their homes for this project. We cut the bottles into half and and used our engineering skills to hold it together with jute thread. We then filled the feeders with millets to attract more birds into the campus.
We discussed about the importance of birds in the ecosystem and how they help in the dispersal of seeds. We talked about how seed coat gets softened inside the digestive system of a bird and makes it easy for the seed to germinate. We are excited for next week to pint it in bright colours and hang it in our garden in the front yard of the school.
