QAS’s Food Cycle Demonstration selected for Qatar University’s “innovators in Education”.

QAS’s sustainability program on food cycle demonstration was  accepted by the “innovators in Education” program by Qatar University. The program was accepted in STEM category. The food cycle demonstration program uses innovative methods to tackle the problem of food wastage in a school set up by involving students and creating awareness while demonstrating a circular economy inhouse. The program will now look at an action plan to evaluate our progress and measure the impact of this program on our students.

The food waste at QAS is measured everyday and recorded. This food waste is then composted and the compost from the food waste is used in our vegetable garden. The vegetable garden then provides vegetables to the cafeteria thus demonstrating the food cycle. The program will now explore innovative methods in which we can involve the students to increase the impact. Once selected, Qatar University will provide platforms to replicate this program in other schools.
