Learning Sustainable Gardening at Sunrise International School: Carrot Top Activity

The carrot top activity was conducted to introduce students to sustainable gardening and help them understand that plants can grow from kitchen waste. The activity aimed to develop environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility towards nature. Students were shown carrot tops and explained that instead of throwing them away, they can be reused to grow new plants. Each child placed a carrot top in a small container with water. Once the roots started forming, the carrot tops were carefully planted in the school garden. The teacher guided the students step by step and explained the importance of watering and caring for plants. Students observed the carrot tops and were encouraged to talk about what they noticed.
