Recently, we had the pleasure of taking a group of children from Year 6 to Year 9 to a British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) conference hosted at Arbor School. The event provided an incredible opportunity for the children to learn about the innovative approaches various schools are taking to make their campuses more sustainable.
During the conference, the children were given a tour of the school’s impressive bio domes. This hands-on experience allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of how these sustainable structures function and contribute to environmental conservation. The bio domes demonstrated practical applications of green technologies and sparked the children’s curiosity about sustainability in everyday life.
One of the highlights of the event was a captivating presentation by Mr Toby, who shared his remarkable story of rowing to Antarctica. His incredible journey not only inspired the children but also underscored the importance of perseverance, environmental awareness, and pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve.
In addition to the enlightening talks and tours, the conference also provided a valuable opportunity for networking. Many great ideas were exchanged, and the children made connections with their peers from other schools, furthering their understanding of global sustainability efforts.
It was a truly inspiring experience for both the children and the adults involved, and we left with a renewed sense of enthusiasm about the importance of sustainability in education and beyond.
