Eco Club X Regent International School

In the U.A.E., growers are using a special technique called hydroponics to grow plants.

In Regent International School's Eco Club, we have been looking after our hydroponic units and harvesting produce to use in Forest School and EYFS lessons. This term, the children made a delicious salsa using mint and parsley which has been grown in school.

Did you know that hydroponic systems do not use soil? Instead, sensors control the climate, energy, water and light in the greenhouse to keep the plants happy! The hydroponic unit uses seven times less water than a normal farm would. There are a wealth of benefits derived from using hydroponic farming techniques: higher crop yields, precise control of nutrients and hygienic, healthier plants with no soil borne diseases or pests.
