A story of chard

Many of the vegetables grown in our school garden made their way from our ‘farm’ to the ‘table’ of one of our families or staff members. This is the story of our swiss chard.

Our swiss chard grew beautifully last season. One Friday afternoon it was picked by a dedicated Eco committee mom, destined for the dinner table that evening.

This mom is a whizz in the kitchen, so with the simple addition of garlic paste and olive oil, it became a healthy, home-grown and delicious addition to the evening meal.

The timing was perfect as we all returned to the garden on Monday to find that the caterpillars had similarly feasted on our swiss chard. First in, best dressed it seems!
