Xpanse Forum for Innovative Ideas

Nine students from the American Community School of Abu Dhabi participated in Xpanse, an innovative forum focused on environmental sustainability through technological advancements. At this event, our students had the opportunity to pitch their biotech ideas to a panel of judges. We are truly inspired by the courage and creativity these students demonstrated when presenting and addressing global challenges. Here are some of the innovative ideas they presented:

Student Pitches

  • FridgeCam: A smart kitchen gadget for food management. It uses artificial intelligence to track food items, estimate expiry dates, and send reminders. It attaches to fridges and monitors inventory via a mobile app to help eliminate or reduce food waste.
  • Smart Tree-Planting Robot: Designed to plant trees in hard-to-reach areas. It aims to rejuvenate deforested regions in an efficient and cost-effective way.
  • AI Pharmacist: Automates pharmacy operations. It sorts drugs, matches prescriptions, and performs safety checks. It improves patient safety by reducing errors and enhancing efficiency.
  • Filtera: A reusable water bottle filter. It kills bacteria for safe drinking water and features a unique, self-cleaning mechanism.
