Bhavan’s Abu Dhabi pulls out all the stops in the unyielding battle to protect Mother Earth from the vicious pile of waste from choking her to death. The One Root One Communi-tree (OROC) programme, initiated by Dubai Ministry jointly with Emirates Environment Group (EEG), was the springboard to this overwhelming achievement. The school collected a remarkable amount of nearly 8000 kgs of old and used newspapers entitling them to plant 5 trees in Sidr Nature Reserve in Rask Al Khaima.. The can collection drive in partnership with EEG also saw 25 kgs of cans collected from different sources. The plastic collection campaign crossed the set target of 200 kgs, and reached a 238 with recyclable carry bags and bottles.
All the drives and campaigns mentioned above would not have met their targets without the whole-hearted support and encouragement of the parents’ community and neighbouring communities coupled with the unrelenting volunteering from the students.
