For eight years, ACS has worked with a children’s home in Nepal. We have helped 16 children stay in school and have better housing. ACS students stepped up their support after the earthquake and 10 “Nepal Ambassadors” went back last year to learn more about the devastation of the earthquake. They spent time with the children at Ocean Nepal and also made a trip to Dhading where 90% of the homes have been destroyed. The long term hope is to build a school in Dhading. This approach of supporting a community project is one that can help children stay with families rather than seeking alternatives for better education in Kathmandu. Grade 1 students held a special fundraiser for this program and learned about Nepal.
