Here at Dunecrest American School students in Grade 1 have been learning about the concept of “farm to table” in their social studies unit. They have been recently learning about the process of how bread is made and applied their knowledge in a fun pizza making activity. Students had a very memorable, fun time creating their own dough, tomato sauce and then adding their favorite toppings onto their own pizzas. They were all successful in learning new skills of patting, shaping and rolling dough to stirring and measuring out all the ingredients needed to make their tasty pizzas, all the time discussing where all these ingredients come from establishing the link to the key concept of “farm to table”. All students were supported by the amazing Dr Kathy and her grade 9 and 10 culinary arts team.
