CLEAN ENERGY MEET

In connection with the International Day of Climate Change, British Petroleum in partnership with Environment Agency Abu Dhabi held a virtual session on Clean Energy on 26th October 2020.

Students from various schools were invited to take part, with over 160 participants, including officials from EAD, educators and students from various schools.
The ideas were shared through a presentation. Akshita Kanna and Adithya Sathyanath of Grade 11 represented Bhavans Natura, the Eco Club of Private International English School, Bhavans Abu Dhabi, and shared their views and ideas about the various sustainable practices undertaken by the school club. The correlation between the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and energy conservation was discussed. The ideas which were emphasized were based on energy conservation. The light was thrown on the initiative of our school to use LEDs in the auditorium and the Netaji Block, switching off lights during break time, solutions and differences caused by the Energy Audit, student trips to Masdar City and ADNEC during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, solar energy project, the idea of motion sensored lights and the teacher workshops. Our presentation and practices were well-appreciated by officials and Mr Nick Cochrane-Dyet.

It gave many students hands-on exposure to innovative, simple and impactful measures to save energy!
