World Oceans Day provides a unique opportunity not only in honoring but also in conserving and in protecting our Ocean. Every year it is observed on 9th June, to raise global awareness about the importance of ocean in our lives and the ways through which we can protect it.
This year, Private International English School celebrated World Oceans Day on 10th June at Ram Manch with various activities. The Eco club of our school, Bhavans Natura and the Science Department initiated the World Ocean Day celebration by awareness speeches on various environmental sensitive issues as spreading awareness is a vital part to encourage and educate the students to save our oceans. A short film, Stop S(h)elling the Ocean on World Oceans Day and the importance of oceans was screened by Lipika Marina grade 11, Meghavardhini Jyothikannan grade11, Pavithra Thangaraj grade 11, Praja V J grade11, Aditi Balan grade 9, and Kavin Sri Guru grade 7. Then a student ambassador shared his experience about sustainability projects in Masdar and encouraged the audience to take part in it. PIES honoured our young environmentalists by distributing certificates of recognition to vibrant volunteers who took part in various environmental activities and projects.
In accordance with World Oceans Day, a drawing competition was conducted by the Art Department. The children enthusiastically participated in the drawing competition by their creative drawings. The Science Expo and Formula one awards were also distributed on that day.
