As part of Regent International School’s Environment and Sustainability Signature Programme, our KS2 children participated in Spinneys’ Farm to Table Programme.
Through the five modules, our children have gained the knowledge and skills required to eat and live well. The children found out:
-What a healthy and well-balanced diet is;
– The importance of physical activity in keeping us healthy;
-Where food comes from, with a focus on how food is produced in the U.A.E.;
-How to eat responsibly;
-And how to make healthier choices.
To conclude our work on the programme, our Eco Warriors visited the Spinneys Layan store. Danielle Oliver from Interact hosted an engaging session which centred around making healthier choices, with a particular focus on food produced in the U.A.E. Our Eco Warriors also found out so much about bees from Olivier Cantagrel (founder of Oliver’s Bee Farm). The children learned: how to recognise bees; how well bees smell, hear and feel; the difference between worker, honey and drone bees; and many more fun facts. Did you know that bees have two stomachs or that they can’t see the colour red?
