Selected pupils from Regent International School participated in the first ever British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) Student Climate Conference!
In the morning, they heard from three thought-provoking guest speakers:
– Toby Gregory shared insights from his Arctic expedition onboard the “Ocean Guardian” where he observed first-hand the impact of climate change on today’s world. He highlighted the importance of local action to address global climate challenges.
– Nadia Boumeziout reminded our children that all of us have the power to make small yet impactful environmental changes within our own sphere of influence, and that through education and action, we can empower others to do the same.
– Akhil Nazim Faisal explained the crucial role buildings which reduce energy, water and waste consumption have on our climate. Terra at Expo City Dubai demonstrates what is possible when we integrate environmental responsibility and sustainability into building design and operation.
In the afternoon, the children participated in an Eco Council-led workshop which involved a deep dive into our school’s current environmental successes and allowed us to identify key areas for development to make a green difference in our school building, community and beyond.
What an incredible opportunity! The U.A.E. is continuing to inspire the next generation of changemakers.
