Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project X Regent International School

This term, Regent International School’s Year 2 Eco Committee members and Eco Warriors visited the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP).

The children first found out more about sea turtles from a marine biologist. Did you know that there are seven species of sea turtles, that they can’t hide in their shells or that the biggest leatherback sea turtle ever recorded was over three meters long!

After that, the children gained a deeper understanding of the challenges sea turtles face in their habitat (including plastic bags, fishing nets, jet skis and boats) and they found out about the incredible work being done to rehabilitate them at DTRP before they are released back into the wild. If you find a sick or injured turtle in the U.A.E., please call 800 TURTLE.

Finally, the children had opportunity to feed the sea turtles which allowed them to interact and connect with these incredible animals. Year 2 thought that they preferred carrots for lunch!
