Students, teachers, and the principal from Al-Watan Charter School took part in a volunteer initiative in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency to clean up Al-Bahia Beach as part of sustainability and environmental conservation efforts. Spending their day off at the beach, the group worked together to collect waste along the coastline, gathering approximately 300 kilograms of various litter, including plastics, metals, glass, and paper.
After completing the cleanup, everyone participated in sorting and classifying the waste by type to facilitate the recycling of reusable materials. They also used the “Sahem” app to document environmental data and record the quantities collected, supporting the Environment Agency in analyzing beach waste data and developing improved strategies to maintain public cleanliness.
This initiative fostered environmental awareness among students, staff, and the broader community, emphasizing the importance of marine conservation and pollution reduction. It also encouraged participants to engage in sustainable environmental practices. The dedication of Al-Watan School’s students, teachers, and principal showcases the commitment of the Emirati community to preserving natural resources, setting an inspiring example for future generations in contributing to the UAE’s vision of sustainability and environmental protection.
