We at QAS are celebrating Qatar Sustainability Week engaging our learners with various meaningful events and encouraging them to take action. On Oct 1, Tuesday, we had two eminent speakers who inspired our students with their presentations and interactive sessions. The whole school attended the sessions in an extended assembly conducted as a part of Qatar Sustainability Week Celebrations.
We had Samahar Androon from Pre University Education, Qatar Foundation, for the first session where she inspired our students to take action by sharing stories from across the globe. The stories about Asia Pacific patch cleaning project and about the 9 year old boy called Felix, who got inspired from Wangari Mathai were truly encouraging for the students.
For the second session, we had Lulwa Ali from Seashore, who Qatar who spoke to our students about various ways in which they can get involved locally to take action to protect our planet. She spoke about Seashore Qatar’s projects which opened doors for Service As Action projects and environmental activism.
We hope our students will now take it forward by getting involved in various environmental sustainability initiatives globally and locally.
